With heightened volatility dominating the markets in recent times, there hasn't been too many asset classes for investors to benefit from. However, for those with a little more time on their side, private equity has proven itself a strong performer.

Traditionally an asset class reserved for institutional or ultra-high-net-worth investors, private equity is now the realm of retail investors, with accessibility further improved with the recent launch of the MLC Global Private Equity Fund.

As MLC Asset Management co-head of private equity Kristian Zimmermann explains, an allocation to private equity is a benefit to investment portfolios, offering diversification and giving investors skin in the game with managers' ability to actively influence companies' operations.
