Using country of domicile as a measure of a firm's potential success or future stock price is increasingly out of step with today's globalised world. In fact, it can grossly misrepresent the fundamentals that drive companies and the risks and opportunities within portfolios. For example, a third of the earnings of companies in the S&P/ASX 200 Index is generated outside of Australia. With so many businesses operating on a global basis, thinking outside the traditional asset allocation framework defined by country of domicile and style boxes has never been more pertinent. Specifically, revenue analysis can provide greater understanding of investment opportunities and risks. The Capital Group New Perspective strategy has long followed this approach. For over 40 years, it has been pursuing pockets of growth, secular trends and global trade patterns - wherever these may occur.
