Strength doesn't just come from numbers, it also comes from diversification.
That's the story behind the success of BlackRock's multi-asset income fund, which has delivered a high 7.4% annualised yield at a time when the yield of many competing products are stretched at best.
Last month we spoke to David Griffith, head of investment strategy of BlackRock's multi-asset strategies team, who explained how financial advisers can build better income portfolios for their clients.
The key, he said, is to broaden sources of income away from domestic equities and domestic fixed income, which was the default approach in the past.
Instead, his team has offered an income strategy that invests across 10 asset classes spread in 40 countries, an example of true-to-label diversification.
You can find out more in this interview where Griffith explains how BlackRock toes the fine balance between offering a high yield while mitigating the associated risks.
