Richard has more than 25 years' financial market experience, starting as a commodity trader with Mitsubishi Corporation in the early 1980s. He spent several years with US based A.G Bisset, a firm that pioneered currency overlay management and joined Bankers Trust in 1995 as a fixed income product specialist. In 1997 Richard joined Rothschild where he was responsible for its alternative investment business. In ten years at Rothschild (and its successor organisation, BTFG), Richard built a A$1.8 billion business covering global and local hedge funds and commodity managers. In 2006 he was awarded the Contribution to the Industry award by AIMA. After leaving BT, he joined a prominent Australian family office as an advisor, later moving to FRM in November 2009.
Richard has an MBA from Melbourne Business School, a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance from the Securities Institute of Australia, a Bachelor of Business from CIT and a Bachelor of Arts from University of Melbourne. He taught undergraduate finance at CIT for two years and was Chairman of an education task force at FINSIA for several years.
