John Robertson has worked as a policy economist, business strategist and investment market professional for nearly 30 years.
Within the resources sector, he has held a wide range of strategy, trading and transactional roles. He was responsible for resources sector investment strategy at McIntosh and Company (now Merrill Lynch Australia) before being appointed chief economist and taking on a key role in developing the overall strategy offering of the firm.
Before that he had managed futures market and physical metal trading activities in Australia, London and New York and was involved in the analysis, planning and execution of several major international corporate acquisitions within the resources industry while employed by MIM Holdings.
Beyond resources, his corporate valuation and advisory work has covered consumer goods, financial services and information technology. John has been chief financial officer of an ASX listed investment company and a senior executive in the finance and strategy division of Foster's Brewing Group. He began his career as a Treasury economist in Canberra before spending several years as a staff member for then Treasurer, John Howard.
He has been a member of the Emerging Resources Company Share Fund investment committee since its inception in 2006 and is a director of funds management group E.I.M. Capital Managers.
