John is currently CEO of AMIST Super, a $1bn Australian Industry Superannuation Fund, having previously served for 6 years as General Manager at A$14bn FuturePlus Financial Services. John has over 20 years investments and financial services experience gained in financial services and multinational corporations in Australia and internationally.
John was previously Director of Investments for SEBO, a $3bn South African Superannuation and Pension Fund, and Principal Consultant in Financial Services at Deloitte Haskins and Sell.
John has also had extensive corporate management experience, having held senior executive positions at Kimberly Clark, O'Brien Glass, Rothmans and Unified Telecom. He has held several board positions in industries including: publishing and printing; motoring; stock broking; financial services, and an airline.
John holds an M.B.A, a Bachelor of Science (Engineering), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance and Investments. He is currently a PhD candidate at UNSW investigating "Behavioural Finance implications in Investing, and Superannuation Risk Management" at the School of Actuarial Studies at the University of New South Wales.
John is member of ASFA, a Fellow of Finsia, and a member of the Funds Executives Association of Australia (FEAL), and is a regular industry presenter on Financial Services and Investments topics. He also sits on the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Education committee. John has also published several papers including: "Are investors rational? And does it matter?" and "Behavioural Finance implications in portfolio construction"
The Superannuation industry body FEAL, awarded John the 2007 Investment Scholarship to New York and Montreal.
