John was appointed Deputy CEO of the Investment and Financial Services Association (IFSA) in April 2004. He joined the financial services industry in 1970 and has held executive roles in general management, strategy and public policy.
In 1994 he joined AMP where he was appointed Head of Retail Strategy for Australia and New Zealand. In 1999 he moved to the UK with AMP, where he was appointed Director of Retail Strategy. In 2002 he became Director of Strategy for AMP International, based in London, where he had responsibility for Virgin Direct, Cogent Investments, AMP Banking, as well as for AMP's
retail business activities in Asia and Europe. Prior to joining AMP, John was Head of Strategy at the ASX.
In 2006 John was appointed Chair of the Advisory Board of the University of Adelaide's International Centre for Financial Services. John is also a Board member of the Australian Services Roundtable. John holds a Masters of Business Administration from Macquarie University and a Graduate Certificate in Management from the University of Western Sydney. John is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries.
