Dr Raymond Da Silva Rosa is Director of the WA Centre for Capital Markets Research at UWA Business School. His two principal areas of research are mergers & acquisitions and behavioural finance. Behavioural finance draws on psychology and economics to explain investor behaviour. With his colleague, Professor Philip Brown, and Ms Tracey McNaughton, Senior Economist at BT Financial, Raymond is engaged in investigating the influence of gender, among other things, on the trading behaviour of over 800,000 investors in managed funds across three decades. The research is on-going but the data have already yielded several findings that compel substantial re-evaluation of long-standing assumptions in the managed fund industry.
Raymond's behavioural finance research has been presented at, inter alia, the European Finance Association Conference, the Australasian Banking & Finance Association Conference, Australian National University, University of New South Wales, University of Queensland, and accepted for publication in the International Review of Finance. Other behavioural research co-authored by Raymond is under review at the Financial Analysts Journal, the highly regarded US-based finance journal oriented towards practitioners, following a specific invitation to submit by the editors. Raymond has won Australian Research Council (ARC) large grant funding for his M&A research and also research commissions from, among others, ASX Ltd and the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
Raymond lectures in Investment Analysis and Advanced Corporate Finance at UWA Business School and in Mergers & Acquisitions in the MBA programme at Melbourne Business School.
